Re: Clinty's Weekly Blogs
Whooo, he's back!!!
Hello guys, sorry I haven't written in a long time. It's been crazy this year, but I'm going to do my best to keep it up weekly!
A lot has been going on since I last wrote to you after Talladega. More than I can list here, but turning 30 was probably the biggest thing to me, personally. I don't feel 30, and it sounds kind of old to me. Haha! But, it's all good. I've already thanked the folks at General Mills for my B-Day party at Dover, but want to say thanks again to them and thanks to all of you for the great birthday wishes you passed along. They even brought Elvis to the building in Dover, and that was as cool as it gets!
Turning 30, then going on a slump in the car was kind of bumming me out. Heck, it even rained out Eldora after I had two special cars for me and Jimmie Johnson to race in the Prelude. Racing hasn't been going too good for me since the last time I wrote, but it's picking up quite a bit. The boys in the shop at RCR have been working hard and we have some cars coming up that are going to be fast. Our tire test at Indy went well and I can't wait to get there for the 400.
The schedule is crazy this time a year going up to Michigan, then to California, and back to Daytona. I've been able to take some personal time and enjoy myself with my family and friends. We almost never get any down time, and I can't sit still for 5 minutes anyways, but that past few weeks have been good. I think it's important to just relax now and then. We're getting ready to buckle down and make a run at The Chase and I know my relaxation time is all but over. We're not too far back, but it's going to be extremely tough to get back in there. Everyone is running hard, but I'm confident in Shane and my Helping Hands Crew, and in RCR. Getting that top-10 last weekend gave everyone a little confidence. We've been knocking on the door of the top-five the last three races and, we're getting back where we should be. Now it's time to roll.
The road courses are coming up and I'm actually looking forward to them. I've learned how to be a little smoother and faster and I think we'll have a great car. I like coming up to Sonoma and wine country. It's some of the prettiest land we see on the tour and growing up in Kansas always makes it cool to be in California.
Thanks to all of my fans for their support! We have an awesome gang and it seems like it's growing. I'm going to be up on the wheel for you as we run into The Chase and I'm ready to go for the title for the third year in a row.
I want to send out an early Happy Father's Day to all of the Dads out there. Hopefully I can give Pops a good one this weekend!
See ya!

Did they ever get to run the Prelude???
In an interview of Clint at his dirt shop, he talks about telling JJ that he was gonna build him a really good car for it.
"I told Jimmie I was gonna build him a brand new car, so, you know, 3 time champion, you dont wanna let him down" hehehe

Re: Clinty's Weekly Blogs
He's doing good keeping up with it weekly so far.....
Hey guys. Well, here's the latest blog from me, and it's easy to write this week. I was proud of the way we ran on the road course last weekend, and wanted to talk about that . It's been a busy week at home, plus we're heading back to Loudon this weekend. I think I like doing the blog more when things are going well. Haha!
I've had some good, top-five, finishes at Sonoma, but they were mostly because of good fuel mileage calls, and I'd like to think that I get better at road racing every time out. On the other hand, I had put in a couple good qualifying runs, and I had a good idea the #33 Cheerios/Hamburger Helper Impala would be strong. We were a top-five car in practice this time and I had a late qualifying draw. Then, the driver didn't get it done on the qualifying lap! On the road courses it's hard to be fast for just one lap. You have to be really smooth, not slide the tires, but still go hard. The late qualifying draw isn't as good to you as it is on the ovals. You have to sit for quite a while on the road courses because of the long lap-times. I sat waiting for about three hours. I didn't want to push it and get off course, but I didn't push near hard enough.
So, we started 26th and I did my best to get rolling. Early in the race was tough having to stop for a crash and losing a bunch of spots. That put me in the middle of the mess on the double-file, (double barrel!) restarts. Now, those were intense. But, somehow I managed to get through each one and gain some spots. It's impossible to predict what the guys are going to do when we're going left and right through off camber sweepers. You have to pick a line and go with it and hope for the best!
At the end we got our second top-10 in a row and right now, that's all that matters. I made The Chase two years in a row by getting top-10s. That's what is going to get us in this year, too.
I'm pumped up to be heading to New Hampshire. I ran good there in the Nationwide series before Cup, and I won my first Cup race there. I've lead a ton of laps in the Nationwide car and am looking forward to hopefully doing more of the same this weekend. I watched Stephen race Milwaukee race last weekend and it looks like the #29 Holiday Inn Chevrolet is fast. Then, on the Cup side, I'm confident we'll unload with a good car. I know what to do when that happens.
I like the Loudon area in New Hampshire a lot. Last year I did an appearance there with the State Troopers to support the "Move over" law, that means you must change lanes when as officer got pulled over. I rode with an officer and we pulled people over that obeyed the law and gave them free tickets to the race. We even pulled over a huge RCR fan. It was cool.
We'll be going for the first win of the season there this Saturday, then the second win on Sunday.
It's been busy back home, but we're having some fun here at Muddy Reek Raceway tonight. I still enjoy just hopping on the tractor and working on the track, then watering it and rolling it in. I didn't even get to race. Right now I'm in Charlotte doing a media deal, while the boys are tearing it up. That's cool, I'll let somebody else win this time!
We're leaving for New Hampshire tomorrow, and I'm ready to keep it rolling.
Thanks for all of the support everyone. I signed a whole table full of autograph requests this morning and what's cool, is every time they lay them out for me there is always at least a couple pictures from my first Cup win at Loudon.

Re: Clinty's Weekly Blogs
Hello guys! How is everyone? I bet a lot of you are excited about the weekend with it being the Fourth of July and all. I know I've always looked forward to this weekend as far back as I can remember. The Fourth of July weekend has always been fun, but now I look forward to it for different reasons. I still like to set off some fireworks, but the real fun is heading back to Daytona. Right now, there isn't any place I'd rather be preparing to race at.
There isn't anything much cooler than fireworks, and man did we use to have some fun when we were back in Kansas. My family lived on a large pond (the residents called it a lake, but it was tiny) and we would always have a bottle rocket war with our neighbors. The water was just far enough across that we could hit their yard with a well-aimed bottle rocket, or artillery shell. It got a little wild, but we never burnt a house down, and nobody ever got hurt...too badly. Haha! One particular story sticks out. One year my brother Andy had a broken leg from a motorcycle crash and my brother Casey and I decided we would get back at him a little. He was on crutches and was lighting fireworks from a lawn chair so we sat a big string of "Black Cats" under him and watched him fall out of the chair. He was pretty pissed off and tried to chase us down, hopping on his crutches. He finally gave up and just threw one of them and almost got us. Almost.
Yeah, Fourth of July was always fun for the Bowyers. But, now it's time to get serious.
I'm frustrated with how Loudon turned out. We are making some big improvements on our cars at RCR, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. We easily had a top-10car, and for the second time at that track, rain ruined our finish. Seems like the rain has bitten us every time. But, hey, that is the way racing luck works out. I mean, I would be talking about how awesome we were if it worked out in our favor! But now, we're heading to Daytona and I'm excited about it.
You can look at Daytona as a place that can hurt you or help you. Anyone can get into the wreck, but I'm going there looking to take advantage of the fact that RCR has awesome speedway cars, and I really like that place. One of Richard's quotes that I like to remember is, "The best victory is when preparation meets opportunity." My team is prepared and we are heading down there ready to make the most of the opportunity. We'll be going to the front no matter what. I'm going to be careful as always, but even if I get swept up, that's ok. Our cars are getting fast and they can't hold us back forever.
Ok, I'm out of here. Happy Fourth of July, guys!

Re: Clinty's Weekly Blogs
Here's another one! hehehe
Hi guys, hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!
I was just going back through some of the blogs I've done and I saw that I had already used Dirt to Daytona as a title. It's funny, because when I was sitting in my motorhome Saturday night after winning the Nationwide race I was already thinking about the blog. I usually have to wait for Andy to text me a half dozen times, but after finally winning at Daytona I was looking forward to it. Man, everything is about Daytona. It doesn't matter how many times you've won, or where you've won, if you haven't won at Daytona - you wish you did. I know I've always wanted to win at that place more than anywhere.
Daytona was the first track Pops took us to when we were kids. We always raced motorcycles in Florida during Thanksgiving. We would go down a couple days early to see Daytona Beach. My brothers and I would ride our bicycles on the beach and build jumps in the packed sand, and just hang out. Pops took us over to track and even though we couldn't go in the infield, we could see the high banked corners and how big the place was.
It's unreal to think all the way back to then, and back to those days in the street stock car at Thunder Hill and Lakeside Speedways in Kansas. I never imagined I'd get to see victory lane in Daytona. And even when I got my chance with RCR and came close to winning there, it seemed like that place would never let me have one. I've started on the pole at Talladega my rookie year in the Nationwide series and it didn't end up well. I knew how good my car was, but I always knew that it didn't really matter much because so much can happen with the draft. Hard to believe that young rookie who was new to the draft made it to victory lane in a plate race just a few years later.
I know we've already talked about it, but let me just tell you how hard it was hanging on out there. Those tires gave away and when they did, the car was all over the place. It handled so good that I could hold it to the wood on the bottom, but after six laps or so, that became pretty scary. We held on though. We won at Daytona.
Yeah, Saturday wasn't very nice to me in the Cup car, but you have to be patient with Daytona. I had escaped the big one every time I had raced there until that time around. If she lets me go that long until she bites me again, I'll take it!
Now, we're off to Chicago and I think we should be pretty good. This is the first 1.5 track we're visiting since we've gotten our new batch of cars at RCR and we should unload fast and stay fast.
Thanks for everything, guys!
