Re: Starting Fresh for 2009
Clint has to be close to getting his name on the #29 door for the rest of the year....Hmmmm Im gonna see if I can find out....
Okay, its not decided till July 3....but this is funny
Clint:
"I can't wait to see Stephen and Jeff's face when they have to stare at my name the rest of the year," Bowyer boasted. "I'm going to win because it adds so much fuel to the fire.
"I have to win because it's my incentive not to see their names staring back at me on the weekends I'm driving."

Re: Starting Fresh for 2009
A random Q&A:
Like you, Bowyer was a Chase driver in 2008. Apparently the guy has some talent; he's confident -- just shy of cocky -- and you know he wants to win this internal RCR competition. What advice would you, as a loving, caring teammate, offer Clint as he attempts to win the bet?
Burton: My advantage is that I don't have as many distractions as the young guy. They have a lot of toys to play with and I think that will help me with this bet even further. My advice to them is to quit playing and get to work!
Tell the truth: The mounts that Richard has in his trophy room -- he bought 'em on eBay.
Bowyer: Lots of laughing ... (We'll take that as a "yes.")
We've talked with the folks at GE. No one has a clue. We've talked with the scientists at Sylvania. Same answer. ... What is a Stephen Leicht?
The first half of the year will be the last time Jeff and Clint see their names above the window.
-- STEPHEN LEICHTBurton: If he does well enough and wins, then everybody will know what a Stephen Leicht is. If he doesn't, it may be harder to define. It all rests on his shoulders.
Which is a better bet: The Florida Marlins winning the World Series in 2009 or Stephen Leicht winning this bet with Burton and Bowyer -- and why?
Leicht: Most people would say the Marlins are the safer bet, but I'm saying I have the best shot because I know I can do it. The first four races are my best ones and they all fall in the first half of the season. That being said, the first half of the year will be the last time Jeff and Clint see their names above the window.
On the road as much as drivers are, making sponsor appearances, fan fests ... what is the key to a good night's sleep?
Burton: Staying at a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express of course! You gotta stay at the right place!
You're in a hotel room with two double beds. It's a two-night stay. Do you sleep in one bed the first night and the other bed the next night?
Leicht: It really depends. When I'm staying at a Holiday Inn or Holiday Inn Express, I push those awesome mattresses together and sleep on them both!
What's more important in your hotel room: a bigger bar of soap or an extra bottle of shampoo?
Bowyer: Soap and shampoo are always good, but more water pressure makes all the difference. So, I'd have to say it comes down to the shower head, like the great ones from Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express.

I agree, the shower head makes all the difference. If there's no water pressure, your shower is gonna suck!
Jeff's the youngest? No offense, but he looks like the oldest.

Re: Starting Fresh for 2009
'Three Wide for the Name on the Ride' ... Only two races remain to determine which of the three Holiday Inn Racing drivers, Bowyer, Burton, and Leicht, will have their name above the door of the No. 29 Chevrolet for the remainder of the season. The driver with the most wins, or best average finish, following the July Daytona International Speedway event will win the internal wager.
Advantage Bowyer ... Bowyer, who currently leads the competition with a 10-place average finish, will pilot RCR's No. 29 Chevrolet in the final two races of the wager. He needs an average finish of 19th or better in the next two races to win the naming rights.
Burton Chasing ... The 27-time NNS winner has earned a 13.1 average finishing position in his seven starts during the competition but is still in the running if Bowyer should falter over the next two events.
Leicht ... The Asheville, N.C., native earned a modest 14th-place average finish over his four races in the Holiday Inn Chevrolet during the competition.

Bowyer Dominates Daytona and Wins Naming Rights on the Holiday Inn Chevrolet
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - Clint Bowyer, driver of the No. 29 Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express Chevrolet, started on the pole for Friday's Subway Jalapeno 250 Powered by Coca-Cola and led 48 of the 120 laps en route to his first Daytona International Speedway victory.
By winning the race, Bowyer locked up the βThree Wide for the Name on the Ride' wager among the three Holiday Inn Racing drivers, which was based on the most number of victories or best average finish following this weekend's event at Daytona. The trip to Victory Lane earned Bowyer the right to have his signature above the door of the No. 29 for the remainder of the 2009 NASCAR Nationwide Series season.
The victory also allowed the Richard Childress-owned No. 29 team to maintain the ninth position in the NASCAR Nationwide Series owners' standings and they now sit 469 markers outside the lead held by the Joe Gibbs-owned No. 18 entry and 80 points behind Braun Racing's No. 38 entry in sixth.
On Thursday, the green, white and blue No. 29 Chevy was fifth quickest in the weekend's opening practice session. Because the team was satisfied with its car's handling and speed, they elected to skip final practice later that afternoon.
Bowyer backed up his speed from the first practice session by earning his seventh career NNS Coors Light Pole Award during Friday afternoon's time trials session. The No. 29 Chevy went out 16th during time trials and toured the famed 2.5-mile tri-oval in 49.806 seconds (180.701 mph). The Emporia, Kan., native held the provisional pole for approximately four hours due to a 25-minute thunder shower that halted the qualifying session for over two hours. Once the skies cleared and the track was dried, the final two competitors made their qualifying runs but were unable to knock Bowyer off the top spot.
Later that evening, Bowyer led the 43-car field to the green flag start of the 250-mile event and held the point during the opening 10 circuits until a two-car incident on the backstretch led to the event's first caution on lap 11.
Crew chief Doug Randolph called Bowyer down pit road on the ensuing for four tires, fuel and a pair of air pressure and chassis adjustments. Quick pit work by the over-the-wall crew helped Bowyer retain the lead for the lap-15 restart. The 30-year-old driver was shuffled from the top spot one lap later but was able to draft with the frontrunners during the middle stages of the race.
After a three-car incident that slowed the field on lap 59, racing resumed five laps later and Bowyer quickly worked his way back into the lead by lap 68. He led the final 35 laps, which included a green-white-checkered restart at the end of the race, en route to his and Holiday Inn Racing's first victory of the 2009 season
Bowyer earned Chevrolet's fifth NNS win this year and was chased to the line by Kyle Busch. Carl Edwards finished third, Joey Logano was fourth and Kasey Kahne rounded out the top five.
Next weekend, NASCAR's junior circuit heads to Chicagoland Speedway for the Dollar General 300 powered by Coca-Cola. ESPN will provide live coverage on Saturday, July 10 beginning at 7:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The race can also be heard on the Motor Racing Network and Sirius XM Satellite Radio. Qualifying for the 18th event of the 2009 season will begin at 3 p.m. EDT the same day on ESPN2. MRN and Sirius XM Satellite Radio will also provide live updates of time trials.
Clint Bowyer Quote:
"I can't begin to explain what this place means to me and my family. It feels great to win for Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express and all the associates on this No. 29 Chevrolet. They're all great sponsors at RCR and I'm proud to get them back to Victory Lane, especially here at Daytona. It's been a tough year for this organization but I'm really proud of everybody's hard work and dedication at RCR and ECR (Earnhardt-Childress Racing). This win is pretty special and, hopefully, will be the beginning of much more to come."
