Sleeping with the lights on
We need our own horror movie section in here, since at least 3 of us (if not more) are hardcore horror nutters!
While looking at Ambrose (ahhhhhh), I thought of Australia and any scary stuff associated with the lovely country down under. I thought of "Wolf Creek". OH! Damn, that's a creepy movie, but so good. And based on a true story to boot. Hmmm.
Who else saw it? What else do you like?

Re: Sleeping with the lights on
Please tell me that House of Wax is the original.
I pretty much ditto you on the horror tastes, Larry, except I don't own all of them.
I've got "Let's Scare Jessica to Death" on Netflix, and it's classified as Classics. Hmmm.
"Them" is also another must-see.
I was a Saw nutter up to the 3rd one, but after that I was like, "OK, Jigsaw is dead, we all saw it at the end of the movie! WTF is up with 4 and 5?" Love the first and third ones, hate the second. And love me some Tobin Bell.
About Wolf Creek - I was reading about some British backpackers saying, "My God, what are they doing to us?" LMAO - yes, mate. It IS as bad as you think and, yes, the Aussies ARE out to get you! Hahaha!

Re: Sleeping with the lights on
COOL!!! Another horror nutter.
Who's in "The Innocents"? That sounds very familiar.
"The Others" is another creepy and classy flick, with Nicole Kidman and those little kids.
Yes, I also find "The Exorcist" "entertaining". I love the 20th Anniversary edition where everyone's interviewed and they talk about how the movie was made. Cool stuff.
I also love thrillers, like Hitchcock. Do you like any foreign movies? Argento? Fulci? Argento is VERY good. He did "Suspiria" and many others. "The Card Player" is my fave of his.

Is that the Jim Carey one? Yea, I heard it's really up the wall. So I'll pass.
OMG, Drina, check out "Wolf Creek". Awesomeness!
David, hey, that's cool, Steph's not big on the horror scene either. Weird stuff happen to you? As in paranormal?

i told drina about it a while ago
our church has this vbs deal ever summer. well it was the last night of it and we were gonna have a dinner that night. my mom was incharge so we had to get there early. there was me, my little cousin, and my sisters. everyone went inside the church and me and my cousin went in last. well all of a sudden this black guy comes running out of the girls restroom running after me and my sister with to huge kitchen knives. my responce was to run in the kitchen and grab a knife, but all of em was missing except some butter knives. so i grab one and charge at him cussing the fuck out of him. and i scare him back. i was cousin threating him everything. and ordered us all in the kitchen and wouldn't let me anywhere near him but that wasn't happening until my mom stepped between me and him. finally we talk the guy down and convince him to give us the knives, the sob had 13kitchen knives and a pocket knife. he made my mom take him to a gas station so he could get away. the cops finally came and were being complete ass holes. they wouldn't listen to me or anything. and now the guy is serving 18 yrs in prison for kidnapping, assult with a deadly weapon with intent, um breaking an entering, and a couple of more charges. everyone in the fam. and at the church considered me a hero, but now i'm paranoid about certain places and noises and i don't go anywhere except school without a pocket knife on me. that was some scary crap. and get this, no one in our town ever new it happened
Re: Sleeping with the lights on
OMG, I'm sorry, David. I wouldn't know what to do in a situation like that, really.

Re: Sleeping with the lights on
I getcha. It's more a flight-or-fight situation and you're so caught up in the moment that your body and brain just act without thinking what's really going on.

Re: Sleeping with the lights on
Dave, thats so bad!! Im sorry to hear that
You were brave though, and that has helped to make you into who you are today!
Ash, that's insane! I saw two paranormal figures in my lifetime...one was (what I believe was) the ghost of the man that died in my mom's room when we lived with her, and the other was a glowing ball that was circling around the big tree in our yard. My mom told me it was a search light, but clearly, now that Im old enough to know better, I know that it wasnt and was definitely something paranormal. Thats why I have no problem believing stuff like that

Re: Sleeping with the lights on
Whoa, that's wicked, Steph!
I have never had an experience (that I know of). But Ron's got a cool story:
When he was a child, his grandmother passed (his mother's mother). That night, Ron and Steve (his brother) were asleep in their room down the hall from their parents' room. Both of his parents were woken up at the exact same time by 3 knocks on their bedroom door. They asked the kids if it was them, and Ron and Steve said that they were both sound asleep.
And a lady I used to work with in Colorado:
Her father died, and it was the day of the funeral. Afterwards, at her house, her husband went out to the shed to get something. When he came back inside, he was sheet-white and wouldn't talk. Later, he told his wife (my co-worker) that he saw her father standing underneath a tree in their backyard.

I completely agree, I would just like my own first-hand experience. I feel so left out. I guess the spirits don't like me.

It was kinda spooky, really.
But, I also think that if you believe, and are in the right place at the right time, it will happen

That's what I keep telling myself too. And I've been to so many supposedly haunted joints and haven't even experienced so much as a breeze, cold spot, etc.
