Ryan will start 3rd at the 500: Stewart could have used a past champion's provisional to make the race, but he ran 187.336 mph (10th best overall) to rank third in the go-or-go-home group. Ryan Newman, driving the other car owned by Stewart's team, was third fastest overall at 187.778 mph.
