Mental Note to Self: Don't piss off Ryan, especially when he's holding a bazooka, sniper gun, etc.! Chad wishes he were this friggin' cool.

Ryan Newman Foundation raises $155K with tourney
By Team Release
December 16, 2008
04:10 PM EST
type size: + -STATESVILLE, N.C. -- Cup driver Ryan Newman raised $155,000 for conservation and animal welfare efforts at the Ryan Newman Foundation's fourth annual Charity Gala and Auction on Dec. 12 and the third annual Charity Fishing Tournament on Dec. 13 in Mooresville, N.C.
The gala, which was presented by Alltel Wireless, featured a concert by country music singers/songwriters Bridgette Tatum and Danny Myrick. The pair wrote the song "She's Country," which was performed by Jason Aldean on the 2008 Country Music Awards.
The charity bass tournament was presented by Ranger Boats and facilitated by FLW Outdoors. The tournament featured 319 fishermen who competed for the grand prize which was Ryan Newman's Z-20 Ranger Boat equipped with a 225 H.O. Evinrude, Minn-Kota Maxxum 80 trolling motor, Lowrance x135, and trailer. Alfred Kiesling of Mooresville, N.C., and Cliff Kirby of Catawba, N.C., won the tournament and took home the grand prize package, valued at $45,000.
The tournament also featured a separate competition between celebrities and pro anglers, which was won by Martin Truex Jr. and Nick Case. The Celebrity/Pro Angler Big Fish contest also included Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Regan Smith, Scott Lagasse Jr., Brad Coleman, Colin Braun, Shannon Wiseman, Bridgette Tatum, "Two Foot" Fred Gill, and pro anglers Koby Kreiger, Chris Lane, David Wright, Stephen Griggs, Michelle Armstrong, Maurice Freeze, Mitch Seruya, Ronnie Watts, Lee Haas, Fred Contaoi, Jared Haas and Derrick Hicks.
Ninety percent of the proceeds raised will be used to fulfill the mission of the Ryan Newman Foundation Endowment to educate and encourage people to spay and neuter their pets and to adopt dogs and cats from animal shelters; to educate children and adults about the importance of conservation so the beauty of the great outdoors can be appreciated by future generations; and to provide college scholarship funding through the Rich Vogler Scholarship program to students interested in auto racing careers. Ten percent of the proceeds will be donated directly to the Humane Society of Iredell and the Humane Society of Catawba County, both located in N.C.
"I'm very proud of all that our foundation has accomplished with our projects like Racing for Wildlife and opening the S.N.I.P. Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic in Catawba County," Newman said. "Krissie [Newman's wife] and I are working to make an even larger impact across the nation by supporting more spay/neuter programs, animal shelters and conservation programs. We really appreciate everyone's support to help us raise funds for these important causes."

Re: Ryan Shrine, the Sequel
Those pics are awesome!!!
Oh HELL YEAH, Chad only WISHES he was NEAR that cool.
Clint drove monster trucks, went in an F18, drove a pro stock car, Ryan and Tony play with guns, and Jr has a bar with a mechanical bull......Chad is so.....vanilla.....compared to these guys....the whole 48 team is. LIke Clint said, its so great to be able to take advantage of the awesome opportunity they are placed in and get to do the things they get to do. Yeah, 48 has won championships, but at the end of the day, thats only one thing. THey dont do anything remotely fun in the meantime.
I know what I'd prefer, thats for sure.

In the off season, Jimmie admits that he sits on the couch and drinks beer. Chandie must LOVE that. What a winner. You still want him, Steph? You can "whip" him back into shape.

Re: Ryan Shrine, the Sequel
I dunno, it's like $25 a year or something. It's not much on its own, but when you consider what all other monthly bills we owe....yikes. Shit adds up.
Clinters - LMAO, I love it!

Re: Ryan Shrine, the Sequel
The one from Clint's last year was something like $40 or so (damn exchange rate), but that was adding money cause I got him to autograph my t-shirt. And, since it has since washed off, Im not doing the autograph this year. But, I got a ton of neat stuff from it so I think I will again this year. I wish I was in the area cause they have parties and stuff for the members, but of course I wont be able to go to them!

Re: Ryan Shrine, the Sequel
OK, mental note: don't wash items that have been autographed.
$40?!? Ouch. No, I def couldn't do that. That'd be cool to go to one of those parties, but knowing me and my esteem problems that creep up when I least expect them, I'd be all inferior to the prettier fans.

Now I know what Mama and Pappa Newman look like, and I'm trying to figure out which one he looks more like.

Thanks for being my backup at the parties.

Re: Ryan Shrine, the Sequel
OK! Hey, I got the phone today!!!
It's a Verizon phone - yes, the ones that merged with Alltel. Sigh. What're we gonna do without those commercials?
"Ryan, we can't just leave 'em there."
"Yes we can!"
